Classic/Antique Car Repair/1976 MGB water pump

Question
I need to replace the water pump in my wife's 1976 MGB. The repair manual tells me to remove the radiator as the first step and then remove the fan. The radiator and fan are not real close to the water pump. Do I really have to remove these two items? It looks like fairly easy access to the pump without removing the radiator or fan.

Answer
Hi Peter,
The RB (Rubber Bumper) MGs did have more room in that area so you may be able to do it ok. I have changed one out on the closer CR (Chrome Bumper) MGs so you should be able to do that one. Just be sure you clean the gasket off of the block.
