Question
I just bought this 76 bug with only 21,000 orginal miles.  For only $2,500.  It has been sitting for 3 years and always stored in barn, garage or shelter.  It will not start.  It backfires, and we have replaced just about everything.  Plugs, wires, cap, rotator, coil, all brand new.  Gas was nasty at the bottom but nothing really in there, so we also put some in there with dry gas.  Also put a new battery.  Battery dies with all of our efforts.  It does back fire pretty loud at times but she still sits quietly.  We are getting so fustrated.  Can you please help.  Also it is fuel injected.  The front two plugs are firing but not the last two.  Any ideas?

Thanks,

Stacy

Answer
Stacy, I just became an expert on this program, and my expertise is in Model A questions, not the bug.  But, from what can see of your problem, Check the timing.  I assume you have fuel to the injectors, and spark to at least 2 cyl.  Timing can cause b/fires.  Also it could be a stuck valve, but that would not prevent fire to the other two cyl.
My best advice is to find a local bug club and join it quickly.  there you will find experts who will help you and enjoy doing it.  I must update my profile to only get Model A questions.  Let me know how you make out.
