QUESTION: i have  changed  my  voltage  reg  3 times and had the  generator rebuilt 2 months ago. had the  wires  checked and  the system will only  work  when it wants to
the  car  is a  1951  chevy fleetline deluxe  still needs  some other work  but im trying to  keep  it  close  to stock with out  mods  being  done.

ANSWER: I would suggest first checking the ground between the engine and the body. If this is disrupted by corrosion or missing the system will not work. Let me know if this does not work.

QUESTION: i  have  already  run  a  new  ground from  the  gen  to  the  volt  reg . like  the  service book  siad to  do .  but  im not  getting any  were  with  the  charging  amps  hitting  what they should  be  at.

Answer
Does the system quit charging completely or just the amps fall off a bit? Check the system by putting a voltmeter across the battery. Run the engine at about 1500 RPM and check the voltage. It should be 7.4 volts. If it is the system is charging. Check and let me know and we will go from there.
