Question
I just purchased a mustang w/o a trany and engine. I know the original engine was a 289. was wondering what it would cost to buy an engine and the trany ( new or rebuilt), and what would be a fair price at that. My step father is a retired mechanic so the labor wont be a problem. thanx jeff

Answer
Jeff, I don't know anything about your car and the probable prices.  He sure helps that you have a mechanic in the family.  He would know more about this than me.  The prices have gone up on the muscle car parts in the past few years.  If you can find a ford car club near you, join it and let them help you.  They will have all the answers.  If not that, find a site on the net for mustangs and ask them.  Your engine and trans are out there.  You just have to find them.
Sorry I can't help you.
good luck
