Question

Caliper
Hello
I am the proud new owner of a '67 mpw coupe that has been in my family for a bit.  the car is in greece but will be headed for the states soon.  the Bentley workshop ordered a repair kit for the rear calipers which did not contain a small o-ring shown in the attached link.  Knowing a bit about these cars (my brother has a rr version), I asked about the condition ofhydraulic system and was told some chassis numbers did not have levelers and this was on of them.  my questions are: 1; do you know where i can get this o-ring?, and 2; have you heard of any cars that did not have the hydraulic leveling system?

Answer
Hi Larry:
All 67 Rolls Royce and Bentley had Hydraulic brakes and leveling systems. However, in 1977 they remove the rear leveling hydraulics because they prove useless. There are still Crewe, England Bentley and Rolls Royce repair shops around and on-line parts company. If you give me your city and state, I will see if there is one near you. I also have found after-market parts for these cars at NAPA auto parts.

CommentThank you. I am in Ventura, California. Oddly, the brake repair kit came from Crewe but without the o-ring. Thanks for your help.

Expertise

Visit my website at: http://www.classytransportation.com/ I can answer most questions about autos built in the 60's 70's and 80's. Specifically, Lincolns, Rolls Royces and the Excaliburs. Mechanical issues and technical questions are my expertise. I also have a general knowledge of most older automobiles. Keep in mind, I can only provide answers if the questions are very specific and complete. Without details, I can only speculate and that's not good for solving your problem.

Experience

I have owned and maintained Silver Shadows for over 10 years now. I find most mechanics and even Rolls Royce mechanics have very little knowledge about these automobiles. I have researched these cars in quite a bit of detail and can pretty much tell you what is wrong, if you can describe the behavior in detail. I have saved quite a few RR owners a lot of money and aggravation due to improper diagnosis.
