Question
I have a question about the fuel tank diagram of a 54' Chevy Belair. We have the fuel pump and lines working to the fuel tank but its not pumping any gas out. we have put several gallons of gas in it. even the sending unit is working in the gas tank. we are wondering if it maybe has some sort of fuel filter in it possibly or if its something else. It is the original gas tank it hasnt been modified. Thank you for your time.

If it was me working on the car I would disconnect the fuel line at the fuel tank. Then extend the line with a piece of flex (rubber) line that runs to a 5 gallon tank outside the car with gas in it. Then see if that will pump fuel. If it does then you know that you have a problem in the tank, and if it does not then there is a problem with your lines or pump. Some tanks have filters in the bottom that are supposed to be self cleaning.
