Question
I have a 1954 chevy 210 with a 235CI 6. I recently installed a Pertonix ignitor cause the popints were constantly losing adjsutment and leaving me stuck. i installed the unit in about 45 minutes. Easy. I know i need to redo the timing. But whne i started the car she started right up and ran smooth, BUT she started to gush fuel from the lower portion of the carburator. By the second butterfly (venturi.) Is this caused by the timiing being incorrect? How do i correct it cause i am affraid it will start a fire before i can get to the other side and ty to time it. I am in trouble and i need what ever advice you can provide.

Thank you,

Noel.

Answer
It sounds like the needle valve under the float is leaking by, either worn out or dirt holding it open. The float could also be sinking and holding the needle open. It is time to take the carburetor apart and replace the needle valve and reset the float level.
