Question
i have a 1985 chevy monte carlo ss my hubby replace engine with 350 it has a edelbrock carb performance series we have it running but when we put it in gear it dies we have checked the vacuum lines and have no leaks but we are stuck dont know what to do next

Answer
Do you have the computer hooked up and functioning or did he attempt to bypass it? If the computer is functioning one possable cause of this problem is the torque converter lock up solenoid in the transmission could be defective or the computer turning it on when it should be off.
