Question
wondering if there are any thing special to remove a generator from a 1927 chrysler, flat head 6 cylinder. it looks like the generator is used for adjusting a chain inside the front cover. i need to remove it to have it repaired, but afraid it may mess up the timing. any information on how the generator is removed.

Answer
I had to go into the way back machine on this one. When i started in the auto biz in the late 1940's we had these cars in the shop all the time. The generators mounted on the timing cover was gear driven, not chain, and removing them had no effect on the timing, but running the engine without the generator in place would sure leak oil. Good luck.
