Classic/Antique Car Repair/62 Chevy II oil leak

Question
Hi
Started to restore about 5 cars and have not finished one yet. Here I go again. I recently picked up a 1962 Chevy II that is mostly original. It has a 230 6 cyl. The problem is the oil is leaking around the dip stick tube where it enters the block. Is there an O-ring or gasket on the tube and how do I remove the tube without causing damage to it.
Also what is the esiest way to confirm if this engine is original.
Thanks for your help. This is a great service please keep it up.

Answer
A great service, but I don't know anything about chevy engines.  A lot of the dip stick tubes were just pressed in, but I don't know how yours went in.  Find a chevy car club and ask them.  Better yet, join a club and you will get all your answers.  Now go get a Model A and I will help you with that.
Check the engine number and trans number, then look under the weatherstrip that goes over the cowl, just in front of the windshield.  Or in that area.  We used to stamp the engine number there so the cops could match up the engine with the chassis/body.
