Question
sorry for the lack of knowledge, how do you check the transmission fluid on this car,257 inline with the hydro matic transmission

Answer
The transmission dip stick and fill tube are located under the floor mat on the passengers side of the transmission hump in inside the car. Pull the carpet and locate the access cover. Remove the cover and the dip stick should be right there. Start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature. Run the shift lever through all the gears and back to neutral. Then check the fluid level. If you need fluid the direct replacement is dexron IIIE.
