Question
how do you tighten the bands on a 1954 powergilde transmission can you do it externally ?What is the level of difficulty .any other suggestions to stop it from slipping in drive?

Answer
The only band that can be adjusted from the outside of the case is the low band and it requires a special tool to set the torque and hold the lock nut. According to my diagnosis charts the problems with slippage in drive are most likely internal if the manual shift linkage is adjusted properly.
