Question
Jack, thanks for all your great advice on my model a,. I failed to ask about the oil filter add on: 2 thoughts enter my mind. they say that a significant amount of wear on your engine is at starting.  With the add on filter the oil does not hit the lifters as quickly during starting as with out the filter  and does the back pressure hinder the flow of oil to the engine. Does the filtered oil outweigh the benefit of instant oil at starting?

Answer
I don't see anything wrong with adding a filter.  I don't think they are full flow filters, so it won't restrict the flow to the valve area.  I could be wrong.  Look at the oil circuit with the filter.  It is probably parallel with the flow, so just some of the oil goes through.  Don't load up your engine or your thrust brg. upon start up.  (don't push the clutch in for a while).  If it is a full flow system, I still think it won't hurt anything by having it there.  I change my oil every 500 miles, unless on a long trip.
Good luck
jack
