Classic/Antique Car Repair/Window Channel Replacement 1930 Ford 5 Window Coupe

Question
Hi there, today I´ve tried to replace the old window and glass-channels of my 1930 Ford Model A Coupe. First of all I closed the drivers side window....everything was fine and the window regulator worked easily. Now I´ve tried to pull the window down again, but that was not working anymore. I think the toothed wheel jams. Now what to do ? How do I remove that regulator ? Thanks for your help. Greeetz from Germany

Answer
Well that is a new one.  First, be very careful.  That spring in there can hurt you.  Wear eye protection!!!!!  Unscrew everything you can and try to get it loose within the door.  I would try to force the regulator toward the down position.  If the reg. is jammed, you will probably need a new one.  The spring should not be loaded very much in the up position.  If you can get to it, try to pry it off of it's mounting.  Try to relieve it somehow if you can.  You may have to drill a few holes in the inner panel to try to pry the reg down and get the teeth back in line.  I think this is something you will have to "worry" apart.  Stay with it and try many different approaches.  Get some help.  You may have to try to dislodge the glass from the lift channel.  Don't break the glass.
That's about all I can suggest.  Good luck and let me know how you make out.
