Question
Hello Vern, Thanks for taking the time to read my questiuon.
I have a '64 Chevy Impala wagon.
The problem I'm having is the brakes pull, severely!
I have taken it to several shops in the Tacoma Wa area. I had new brake shoes installed, wheel cylinders and new ball joints replaced..

It still wants to pull, mainly to the left when I have to apply the brakes hard or suddenly.
The car want to pull in to the next lane.
I just brought it back from the shop, they say and everything to do with the brakes is in order.
I have been told the same by several shops?
HELP!
I don't want to drive this until I can find a fix....

Thank you Tim

Answer
Hi Tim:
Find you a good brake shop. What you brakes need is a simple adjustment.
When brakes are applied, the master cylinder should apply pressure to
each brake pad equally. When your car pulls, this means the pressure is
NOT equally being applied. This is usually due to adjustment in the brake
cylinders and how much fluid is flowing to the brake to push the pads in.

Any competent brake Mechanic shop (not a repair technical. they are clueless)
A good mechanic can fix this is 30 minutes or less. If you have front drums, then
adjusting or replacing the springs may be needed.

Expertise

Visit my website at: http://www.classytransportation.com/ I can answer most questions about autos built in the 60's 70's and 80's. Specifically, Lincolns, Rolls Royces and the Excaliburs. Mechanical issues and technical questions are my expertise. I also have a general knowledge of most older automobiles. Keep in mind, I can only provide answers if the questions are very specific and complete. Without details, I can only speculate and that's not good for solving your problem.

Experience

I have owned and maintained Silver Shadows for over 10 years now. I find most mechanics and even Rolls Royce mechanics have very little knowledge about these automobiles. I have researched these cars in quite a bit of detail and can pretty much tell you what is wrong, if you can describe the behavior in detail. I have saved quite a few RR owners a lot of money and aggravation due to improper diagnosis. I am the owner of Classy Transportation, LLC a luxury limousine service specializing in antique cars, classic cars, vintage cars and exotic cars.
