Question
car was running fine stalled and would not start. there was no gas at carb would start if we dumped fuel down carb, We changed fuel pump still would not start. Pulled fuel tank out ran hose into five gallon can car started and ran fine. Cleaned fuel tank reinstalled fuel tank car started ran fine for about hour or so (started and stopped during that time period). Car stalled now will not start and there is no gas at carb. The car is a 1966 ford galaxie with 352.

Answer
There is a sock type filter in the tank that could be plugged. The fuel line could also have a small leak so that fuel pump vacuum will not pull the fuel through. I have been known to run a rubber line from the fuel pump to the tank to eliminate the cars line. If the car runs with the outside line connected to the tank then the problem is in the line. If the car does not run then there is still a problem in the tank.
