Question
To get more or amps with band removed the 3rd brush is moved clockwise 0r counterclockwise ???
It goes up to decrease the output and down to increase it. I guess this means up is opposite the rotation.
Better yet, get a 6 volt alternator. Works great and does away with the cutout. We are all running the alternator, and they are trouble free.
You should also get the Model A Ford mechanics handbook. About $35 and it tells you all about the A and how to fix it. Get it from MARC or any of the suppliers. Page 1-193 talks about the generator.
