QUESTION: I have a delco reamy alternator with batt-ground-r&f terminals. A vr273 voltage regulator with f-2-3-4 terminals. How do I wire them please help.

ANSWER: Well lets give this a try and see if we can get it wired for you. On the alternator Battery and ground are pretty self explanatory. Battery goes directly to the battery or the heavy wire on the starter if that is more convenient. Ground should go directly to the battery and no where else. The alternator case will ground to the engine when mounted and the ground terminal makes sure that there is a good ground between the engine and the battery. The two F terminals are connected together. The only other connection needed to make the rig work is to provide battery ignition switched power to terminal number 3. Since you have not told me what year make and model you are installing this on I can't help with the other terminals as they are for signaling via idiot lights and have no effect on the operation of the system. QUESTION: Thanks for your reply. The vehicle it is on is a 1945 jeep  and not original. I will be keeping alternator on . It still has its ampmeter and I would like it to be used. I hope this information will help.

Hopefully the original wiring to the ammeter is still in the vehicle. If so then the wire that went to the battery terminal of the original regulator went in two directions, one way to the ammeter and the other way to connect to the battery. Just remove it from the original regulator and tape over the spade terminal, or cut and splice the wire together. That should work, if the harness is stock. If it has been modified Rewire it this way.
