Classic Film/1970 Black and White Movie

Question
I saw a movie in the summer of 1970, at a drive-in theater in the Washington, DC-metro area.  I'm pretty sure it was in black and white.  I'm not sure that you could call it a classic, except that it is old now.

It was  about a husband and wife team.  The husband would seduce and marry women for insurance, bank account balance, etc.  Later they would murder the seduced women.  At the end of the movie the State sentenced them to prison.  The final scenes were about the passionate love letters they wrote each other from prison.  The person who played the husband was dark-haired, small-framed and short.  I think he occasionally wore eyeglasses in the movie.  The person who played the wife was taller than the husband and stout.  Do you know the name of this movie and possibly where I can get a copy of it on DVD or video?  I would appreciate any information you have.

Thank you.
