Question
For a long time I have been searching for a film , I think British film, black & white  covering the plight of a British commando lost in the desert. One scene shows a man being swallowed by moving sands. They had a Land Rover and climbs a hill back tracking the Land Rover. Finally they are rescued. I am not sure Anthony Qayle was in it. May you help me?

Answer
Hello Ozires,

That sounds like you might be referring to a film called "Ice Cold In Alex" made in 1958. It centred around a group of army personnel and nurses attempting a dangerous trek across the North African desert during WW2. The leader of the team, a bit of an alcoholic, dreams of drinking ice cold beer when he reaches Alexandria, hence the title. It starred John Mills, Sylvia Syms and Anthony Quayle.

Glad to be of help. Cheers.........Mel.
