Several years ago my daughter and I watched a wonderful b/w film(possibly late 1930s-40s)about a very lonely little girl whose mother died but continues to visit her.Father had remarried and is very impatient with daughters' insistence her mother talks to her.Little girl meets and old woman in a creepy house who befriends the little girl.Psychological suspense movie.Please help,I would like to give it to my daughter as a gift.Thank you!

I didn't recognize this one myself, but an Internet colleague believes you are referring to the 1944 film "The Curse Of The Cat People". Here's a link........
