Classic Film/Old Western Movie

Question
I saw a strange western movie when I was about 6 or 7, around 1973 or so. I have been trying to find it again and would like some help either specific to the movie itself or perhaps some direction as to where to look for info on the movie...(also how to search for it).
The movie was an odd western in which the hero wore a really tall round topped cowboy hat. He wore it through the whole movie never taking it off and at the end of the movie he removed the hat and it turned out that his head was shaped like the hat...very similar in size and shape to the coneheads from SNL. It was about that large and it was bald like that as well. This memory kind of haunts me. Not in a negative way but it certainly tugs at my curiosity quite a bit. I want to see it again and check the memory.
Any ideas as to the movie or perhaps where and how to look for it?
Search phrases? Anything?
Thanks

Answer
Hello Will,

Although originally I didn't recognize this movie, I've been doing some further checking into your question and I've come up with the following:

There was a short movie (approx 15 minutes) made in 1972 called "Sgt. Swell of the Mounties" in which the main character (played by Chuck Menville) has the large hat and cone shaped head. You can view it at the following site (he takes his hat off right at the end of Part 2):

He used the same conehead joke, although in this one the head had lots of hair, in an earlier short movie called "Blaze Glory" in 1969:

Glad to be of help. Cheers........Mel.
