Question
RAF pilots shot down in desert. They try to walk out but keep ending upi back at their wrecked planes. At the end of the film, it transpires that they are all dead.

I thik I may have the title of the film you're looking for.  It's possible that it was a TV movie
around 1970, called "Sole Survivor", starring William Shatner, Vince Edwards, and Richard Basehart.  Check out the title on :  www.wikipedia.com.  or on Google.

The other "possibilities (with similar story-lines) are also TV Episodes :
"The Mission" on "Amazing Stories" (Episode 15)........and
"King Nine Will Not Return" (1st episode in the 2nd season of) "Twilight Zone".
