Question
Who was the first Italian American actor to win an Academy Awared?  (this is a question/answer we want to present at an 80th birthday party for a movie buff)  Thank you.

Answer
Hello Carol,

As far as I am aware, Frank Sinatra was the first Italian-American to win an Academy Award when he won "Best Supporting Actor" for his role in "From Here To Eternity" in 1954.

Two years later, Ernest Borgnine (real name Ermes Effron Borgnino) won the big one, "Best Actor", for his role in the film "Marty".

Glad to be of help. Cheers.........Mel.
