Question
I don't remember the movie that well. I know that it was a black-and-white comedy about two millionaires who make a bet that no man can live with only a cheque on him that he cannot cash. They take a poor guy off the street, give him the cheque and the comedy starts. I vaguely remember that the poor guy influenced the stock market exchange with that cheque and that, of course, there was some girl.
Please help me!

Answer
Hello Monika,

That's the 1953 film "The Million Pound Note" (U.S. title "Man with a Million"). It was based on a story by Mark Twain and starred Gregory Peck.

STORY OUTLINE: Two rich British businessmen offer a penniless American sailor a loan, without telling him that the amount is £1,000,000. And this in the form of a single banknote. The sailor finds that whenever he tries to use the note to buy something, people treat him as if he is a King and let him have whatever he likes for free. The money proves to be more troublesome than it is worth and ultimately almost costs him his dignity and the woman he loves.
