QUESTION: please, please tell me title of a romantic film where the whole film the lovers keep missing each other and then finally meet at the end. not sure if it's french?

QUESTION: thanks so much for your speedy response! i do know those two films and in both the lovers meet and then circumstances keep them apart. i don't think my question was clear. (my friend and i were searching for about an hour and we were in a bit of a frenzy.) the film is about a man and a woman who never meet until the end of the movie. it's about how close they come to meeting each other for years and then they finally meet, possibly on a plane.(1960's?)it's about how they were meant to meet.
the only reason we think we both remember that movie is after we were talking about it and couldn't think of the title, we saw a Will & Grace episode yesterday and Will was describing that plot to Grace, but didn't say the title!! we nearly died. so we started looking on-line and well, i don't think we all imagined it (i'm including writer of W&G dialogue).  anyway, you are such a darling, thank you for 'listening' and if you don't know it that's ok too.
