Question
I am looking for the title of a B&W movie from the 30's to possibly the 50's.  The plot included a ghost in a well (possibly a wishing well).  The ghost was from the past and  possibly before the Revolutionary War time period.

Hi Tom,

Sorry to have taken so long to get back to you,...but I think I 've come up with the film you're looking for.

It's one I remember seeing as a kid,...and which I'd forgotten about till now .  I recall that, at the time , I thought it delightful and original,...and it was one of my  (and my schoolmate's favorites)       because it starred Abbott and Costello !!  It is probably one of their very best films.

It was called "The Time Of Their Lives", released in 1946,..and was an unusual film for them,
since Costello played a Revolutionary War character, who with his friend Marjorie Reynolds,
were shot and dropped into a well as traitors.  They come back to the present to try to prove their innocence, with the help of Abbott.  Costello and Abbott are not their usual "team" in this one, and Costello has some poignant dramatic moments.
