I would love to find the title to a film I have seen. It looked to be made around the 30's 40's  in black and white and was about a very glamorous couple, she was an actress and I think her husband was a playwright.They enjoyed success after success on stage and had no time for family. Meanwhile in heaven there is a little girl and boy waiting to be born, they do all they can to try and show this couple they need children in their lives or they will lose their chance of life.It ends in a hospital with 2 women having babies [ one is the actress] and the 2 are born.

That's a film from 1950 called "For Heaven's Sake". It starred Clifton Webb, Joan Bennett and Robert Cummings. Here's a link:
