Question
Hi there,
If you can help me here it would be nothing short of a miracle...I've been searching high and low for a movie but the only info I have is that there is a man who keeps encountering a "recluse" who repeats, "oners flyers oncom beezus onches nobess on nobkeesus."  He figures out @ the end that she is saying, "On horses there are flies.  On combs there are bees.  On chests there are knobs. And on knobs there are keys."  Then he follows the instructions of the riddle and finds the chest and opens it.  Saw it on family film festival KTTV circa 70s/early 80s but it was black and white and seemed fairly old at the time.  Thanks so much. -LJ

Answer
Hi LJ,

Yes, I know the film you're looking for.  In fact it was one of my sister and my favorite films when we were kids!   I was about 10, and she was 5,...but we used to go around the house singing " Onhors fliyses, incom beezus."

It was Paramount's 1945 film, "Murder He Says" starring Fred MacMurrey and Marjorie Main.

You can read the full synopsis at:  http://www.tcm.com:80/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=84159

And it's available only on VHS at  www.amazon.com  for about $23.00.

Sincerely,
