Question
"Hi im tying to trace and old black and white comedy film.
My mum and me watched it when i was little and we both found it very funny.
Its set in an old haunted house, i think i can remember footsteps appearing in the snow near the end and there was a coloured gentleman who kept sitting on a chair and saying "I sit down like this I lean back like this and I WAAAAAAAAAAAAAA" he falls backwards down a chute.
I thought it may be ghostbreakers or The Cat and the Canary but im dont think it is after watching it in bits on you tube.

I hope you can help as it would make an excellent present for my Mum
Many thanks
Dave"

Answer
Hi Dave,

Just got back from a trip to London, and found your question.

I'm not at all sure what film you might be looking for.  I might have agreed it was "Ghost Breakers" or "Cat and the Canary".

I'm only taking a wild guess here, but it could be the 1941 film "Topper Returns" (the sequel to "1939's "Topper"),    starring Roland Young, Joan Blondell and Carole Landis,...and "Rochester".

The full synopsis can be found at :    http://www.tcm.com:80/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=5870

I believe it's avalable at     www. amazon.com
