Classic Film/movie from the 40's

Question
I'd like the name of a movie perhaps from the 40's where the main character is a nanny for many families throughout the film. By the end of the movie she is old and all alone, due to some eye problems she goes to an eye doctor who turns out to be one of the children she had cared for.  He invites her to his home for dinner with his family and surprises her by inviting some of the other children (now adults with their own families).  He then offers her a place to live, with him and his family so she can help care for his children.  I believe her characters name was Lulu.

Answer
Hi Paulette,

I believe the film you're looking for is RKO's 1951 "The Blue Veil" starring  Jane Wyman, Joan Blondell, Richard Carlson and Charles Laughton.

It's a film many people love and remember, but somehow has never been released on VHS or DVD.  Sometimes a privately taped copy can be found on Ebay.
