Question
I remember two movies that I loved but can not find them or exact history.  One I believe was called So Dear To My Heart, they had greeting cards on this one all I can remember was a black sheep, a race horse traveling on a train and Burl Ives, singing  The other was in reference to a story character called "Uncle Remus" singing and telling stories....I still remember the song Zip A De Do Da ..my oh my what a wonderful day.  Can you give me history about these movies or where I might find copies if there are any. I would really appreciate it, thank you.

Answer
Hi Jae,

Thanks for your question.  Being an old Disney movie fan myself,...I'm very familiar with both of the Walt Disney films you'e asking about.

I believe that Disney's first "live-action" film,...with several animated sequences,..was "Song of the South" in 1946.   And,..yes,..it had the Uncle Remus stories in it, with "B'rer Rabbit" and "B'rer" Fox,  and the great song,  "Zip-A-Dee-Doo-Dah' in it.    It featured Bobby Driscoll and Luana Patton as the children,  who Also appeared in the Next film you've asked about.

It was "So Dear To My Heart" in 1949, and also starred Burl Ives, who sang "Lavender Blue,
Dilly-Dilly".  If you go to the  www.google.com    website, and fill in either of the titles of those films, you'll find dozens of interesting sites to learn about both of the films.

Also,   enter the titles at       www.ibmd.com    and     www.wikipedia. com   to get great Synopsis of each film.     "So Dear To My Heart" is available on VHS  at   www.Amazon.com,
but "Song of the South" has never been released in the USA, tho' it Has in other countries,
and copies of those are available.

As for getting those copies,  I checked out a few sites,  and one seems to be an interesting possibility,...and,...tho' I'm not recommending it,...it seems to be on the up-and-up.    It offers DVD copies of Both films for a Very reasonable price.    Probably the quality would not be like an actual Walt Disney release, ...I'd imagine they'd be satisfactory :

You might even try the Library VHS's for "So Dear To My Heart"

P.S.  I've just realized that I put the WRONG email address to go to , to get the DVD with Both films on it.   It's:   http://songofthesouth.org      or you can also try:  http://www.songofthesouth4me.net/buy-song-of-the-south.html
