Classic Film/Can you tell me the name of this movie

Question
I saw a movie on TCM within the last year. I believe it starred Karl Malden. He and his friends, young working class 20 somethings, hang out on Friday and Saturday nights. One night Karl meets a demure, plain single woman and they strike up a conversation and seem to like each other. Karl lives at home with his mother and the girl lives at home with her parents. His friends kind of poke fun at him for getting serious about this Plain Jane but ultimately he determines that he wants to pursue a relationship with her. I think the film has a one word title, perhaps a persons first name but for the life of me I can't remember it. Ring a bell?

Answer
H Delta,
Forgive me for the delay in getting back to you,...but the holiday weekend had me pretty busy.
I'm not positive, but I think the film you're looking for is the great (classic) 1955 film "Marty", which starred Ernest Borgnine and Betsy Blair (who was Gene Kelly's wife at the time.).  Both actors were unknown when they made the film,...but it made them famous and won a number of Academy Awards.
For the plot and info, go to:       http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty

It's available on DVD at Amazon.com for about $5:00 to $10.00.
