Question
Am looking for the title of a b/w movie probably from the 50's.  As the movie begins it is new years eve.  One of the main characters has either just witnessed or committed a murder.  She makes a wish at the stroke of midnight to redo the previous year.  Her wish comes true and she alters some things, but the outcome is the same.  The movie ends the same way it begins.

Answer
Hi Leona,

You'll probably find this hard to believe, but I just showed this film (on an OLD VHS tape I made from TV many years ago) to a friend who had never seen it !     It's one of my all time favorites which I first saw as a little boy,...and never forgot.

It's "Repeat Performance", released by Eagle-Lion films in 1947,...and starred Joan Leslie (as the wife)  who shoots Louis Hayward (her husband);.... it also co-starred Richard Basehart, Tom Conway and Virginia Field.  You can read the Complete synopsis at:

Unfortunately,  it's never been released on either VHS or DVD,...although one of these days it may show up.

Sincerely,
