Question
I am looking for an old film where the husband is a writer and his current wife arranges for a psychic to allow her and and a few friends to talk to ghosts. It doesn't to work but when she leaves, the husband's ex wife's ghosts appears to him. After a while, the current wife gets fed up and the husband makes the ghost prove she's there. Then the current wife begins looking for ways to get rid of her. The ghost wife wants her husband dead with her but kills the wife instead. He is happy to be rid of them both. At the end, they both kill him and make room for him on the bridge they are sitting and his ghost joins them in the middle. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Answer
Hello Mary,

Yes,...of course,...you are looking for the wonderful film comedy written by one of your own countrymen, Noel Coward.  He first wrote it as a play,
which was then turned into a Film in 1945, released by Universal Pictures,..."BLITHE SPIRIT",..starring Rex Harrison, and with Margaret Rutherford as Madame Arcati, the Psychic.

The play, incidentally was on Broadway last year in a very successful revival, with Angela Lansbury stealing the show as Madame Arcati.

It was also made into a successful Broadway stage musical, "High Spirits" back in the 1960's, ...with Beatrice Lillie ( also stealing the show) as Madame  Arcati.)

You can read the synopsis at:     http://www.screenonline.org.uk/film/id/485834/synopsis.html

It IS available on DVD at the Amazon site.   ( at either:  www.amazon.co.uk     or at:    www.amazon.com
