Trying to find this movie for 30 years!  A woman kills her lover and his wife while they are sleeping.  THey have a little girl, around 6, who witnesses the murder.  She has an Indian Chief doll that she calls "Cupid."  When the police question the little girl, she tells them that Cupid killed her parents.  In the meantime, the woman, known to the family, spends the rest of the movie trying to kill the little girl. At the end of the movie, the woman is walking up the steps and a shadow is cast against the wall.  She is wearing a hat with a long feather in it, and the little girl screams "Cupid!" - and the woman is caught.  Great movie, need the title.

Yes, I'm pretty sure I know the film you're looking for.  In fact, you practically  mentioned the title in your question !   The film is MGM's 1950 thriller, "SHADOW ON THE WALL",  starring
Ann Sothern, Zachery Scott,  Gigi Perreau, and Nancy (Reagan) Davis.
