I sa this film a long time ago where a house is haunted and there is a blonde atress lead and a black butler? in a fur coat.  They end yo being driven from the house but the ending is that the ghost has follwed them out and is still with them when they run away.

I think you may be referring to the 1941 film, "Topper Returns" with Joan Blondell.  It was a sequel to an earlier film, "Topper" which starred Cary Grant and Constance Bennett.
