Question
What is the title of the movie described below?                  I am not sure on the release date, but i THINK it came out in the US between the 1930's on 1960's.  The movie is a true story about a famous American singer or actor who joins the military in time of war.  The entertainer is injured and recives an award. The movie takes place in about the same time frame as when it came out. I have searched IMDB plots with no success.  I have not seen the move, it was described to me by my 75 year old grandmother, she wasn't sure, but though the name of the movie was The Red Badge of Courage. I have read many plot summaries about this movie and it makes no mention of a famous entertainer, or of the movie being a true story. Please help.

Answer
Hello Chad,

You are probably referring to the 1955 film, "To Hell And Back", which was the true-Life story of America's most decorated war hero, Audie Murphy.

Have a look here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/To_Hell_and_Back_(film)

Audie Murphy became a national hero during World War II as the most decorated combat soldier of the war. Among his 33 awards was the Congressional Medal of Honor, the highest award for bravery that a soldier can receive. In addition, he was also decorated for bravery by the governments of France and Belgium, and was credited with killing over 240 German soldiers and wounding and capturing many more.

Following the war, he wrote his autobiography and used his popularity to become a Hollywood star, mostly in "B" westerns. In 1951 he starred in a bigger budget movie, "The Red Badge Of Courage".

Glad to be of help. Happy New Year........Mel.
