Question
Hi! Looking for some old ghost movies 30s/40s. I remember one with ghosts who lived in an apple tree or a well (or both!). Thought it might be Abbott and Costello but can't identify it.  And another where a woman ghost was trying to lure the current resident to his death in order to make him her husband????  Any funny ghost movie suggestions from that era would be appreciated.  Blythe Spirit is one of my favourites!

Answer
Hello Adele,

A few of my personal favourites are:

"I Married A Witch" (1942), Frederic March and Veronica Lake.

"Topper" (1937), Constance Bennett, Cary Grant and Roland Young.

"The Ghost Goes West" (1935), Robert Donat and Jean Parker.

"Topper" had two sequels:

"Topper Takes A Trip" (1938), Constance Bennett and Roland Young.

"Topper Returns" (1941), Joan Blondell and Roland Young.

A few others are:

"The Canterville Ghost" (1944), Charles Laughton and Robert Young.

"The Ghost And Mrs. Muir" (1947), Gene Tierney and Rex Harrison.

"Beyond Tomorrow" (1940), Charles Winningar, Richard Carlson and Jean Parker.

Glad to be of help. Cheers.........Mel.
