Classic Film/Need the name of a Movie

Question
Hi and good afternoon,
Just wondering if you could help me please, I haven't got much information to go on but if you could offer any guidance or suggestions it would be much appreciated.
I'm trying to identify a film I believe to be from around the 30's, 40's, 50's era (quite a range I know). It's a black and whie, and from what I remember the film starts off with 2 gods discussing above the earth, man, they decide to place a bet and grant one human god-like powers, which forms the focus of the film (i.e his discovering these powers one day and so on. The film progresses and the only other thing I remember is that at one point late on he decides a girl is going to miss something or be late so decides to stop the earth or time causing all sorts of problems, this may even be the climax of the film where the gods have to intervene and remove the powers and set things to rights (but I am unsure on this last point).
I know this isn't a great deal to go on but it's all I remember I only have a fragmented memory of seeing this film on television when I was about 6 or 7 years old and would love to find it and watch it again.
Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.
Many thanks,
Tom.

Answer
Hello Tom,

You're in luck. That's one of my all-time favourite films. It was called "The Man Who Could Work Miracles" and was made in 1936 by London Films. It was produced by Alexander Korda and starred Roland Young with Ralph Richardson and Edward Chapman.

Have a look at these sites.......

Glad to be of help. Cheers..........Mel.
