I watched this firm with my nan when I was no more than 10 so your looking at about 1970 to 1980. The spirits of a father and daughter had been banished/trapped in a tree.They appeeared as two puffs of smoke. The daughter spirit fell in love with a man who lived nearby and in the end was given the chance to live again as he fell in love with her too. I hope you can help as it is now doing my head in trying to think of what it was called. Thank you.

That sounds very much like a favourite film of mine called "I Married A Witch". It was made in 1942 and starred Veronica Lake and Frederic March. Have a look at the following sites......
