Classic Film/Old movies

Question
I am trying to find two movies I watched with my grandmother back in the mid to late 80's. obviously VHS back then.
The first one, set in 50's or 60's, a high society couple that always bicker, have a car accident and both die, but it is a comedy in which they most work together to help and odd sort of man find his way before they can go to heaven.  I remember the accident is going around a corner on an old road by a big tree, and it takes them a few minutes to realize what has happend.

The second movie, set somewhere in Japan or China....  A buisness man I think, falls for a woman he meets, but she is reluctant to pursue a relationship, because she lives in a little house in a crowded village with her parents, because she has a young child, not sure if it is out of wed lock or the passing of a spouse.  I remember her running through a maze of homes on a hillside with laundry hanging everywhere, chickens running free, lots of people and he losses her in the maze of homes.

Answer
Hi Laura,

Regarding your two inqueries,...I'm happy to say I can answer the first one,...but not the second. ( Perhaps another expert can help with that one.)

The comedy is a classic film of 1937,  TOPPER, with an all star cast including Cary Grant and Constance Bennett as the ghostly couple, and Charles Ruggles as Topper, who helps them.  ( A successful sequel came 4 years later ),...and it was made into a popular TV series in the 50's starring
Anne Jeffries and Robert Sterling (real husband and wife actors.)

and click on: "Read Full Synopsis".

It's available on VHS and DVD at:  www.amazon.com
