(s)he goes back home then falls for the guys best friend ... I think it was b&w or techicolor and the 2nd was an old musical movie where a soldier wins the 1,000,000 ticket or something like it so he gets a date with some actress and they go all over the city nightclubs, etc.  in the middle o fthe movie is a star cast talent show I think hosted by mickey rooney ... any idea on either of these?

Answer
Hi Susan,

It's taken me a while to figure out the 2 films you're looking for,...but I think I've Found them for you.
The first film was the 1964 film, "Goodbye, Charlie"...starring  (Not Tony Randall),..Tony Curtis, and Debbie Reynolds as  "Charlie"   the reincarnated  Gal/guy.  ( Check it out at:
http://www.tcm.com:80/tcmdb/title.jsp?stid=469040     and click on "read full synopsis".)

The second film is ( I'm pretty sure)  the 1944 Warner Bros. film, "Hollywood Canteen" with an all-star cast.  The soldier was Robert Hutton, and the "movie star" was the Warners starlet, Joan Leslie.
( Mickey Rooney was Not in it, since he was at MGM, but he had done a "host type" role in MGM's "Thousands Cheer", also with an all-star cast, about the same time.    All the studios were doing "war time" variety shows.)

They're both available on VHS or DVD at:  www.amazon.com

Happy viewing,
