Question
Dear Juli,

If you can find the answer to my question, I will most sincerely appreciate it. I was at allexperts for a couple of years so I can appreciate it, lol.  In fact, Juli, this is the movie which made me become a horticulturist.

I saw this movie when I was around 8 years old and I will be 49 tomorrow.  In this film, some caribbean type indians tie a man to a manchineel tree (hippomane manchinella) as a torture.  Before doing so, they threaten other hideous tortures, but the man scoffs until they mention the manchineel tree - then he starts screaming.  Later they show him tied to the tree looking frightful.  As frightful as black and white tv could be.

I've imdb'd and googled and I found only one reference to it on some web board - similar to my description, but no knowledge of the date or title or actors.

Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Answer
Dear Susan,
I'm afraid that I cannot give you a difinitive answer to your question. This scene does, however, sound familiar. I'm thinking it may have been from one of the early versions of "Treasure Island". However, I can only guess at it. Maybe if you could tell me more of the film, I could think of what it is. I'm sorry that I could not be of more help.
I hope this helps!
Cheers!

I can answer almost any question relating to any of the Marx Brothers or their films. Their personal lives were, I believe, twice as interesting as their professional personas.

Experience

I have read many books on the subject including the memoirs of the two most famous Marx Brothers, Groucho and Harpo as well as "Growing up with Chico" the only book written expressly about Chico Marx. Also, I have done exstensive research on all of the brothers, my senior paper being on the subject of their lives.

The International Library Of Poetry's Anthology series. (I have three poems published)
