Question
I am looking for a movie where the guy frames himself for a murder and gets sentenced to death.  A detective thinks something is off but can't prove it.  He ends up getting put to death and after he dies, the detective proves he framed himself just to get his point across that capital punishment is wrong.

      I believe that the movie you're looking for is "The Life Of David Gale" Starring Kevin Spacey and Kate Winslet.  
      As a side note, this is based on a true story, and the "detective" is actually a reporter. (Played, quite brilliantly by Ms. Winslet.) Part of the problem was, the police refused to listen to her because they "knew" Mr. Gale was guilty.
