Classic Film/Looking for Movie Title-Frontier Romance Settlers Baby
Expert: Brad Lang - 5/26/2006
QuestionHi, Brad.
I'm looking for a movie title of an older film that I saw maybe 20-25 years ago on tv. I only remember a few details of the plot and cannot remember ANY of the actors or characters, which is unusual and makes it so difficult to find the movie title.
I thought that it was "Drums Along the Mohawk" and purchased it, but it was NOT the movie. It is similar in plot, though. The movie is not "The Howards of Virginia" or "Mrs. Mike".
The movie probably is set during the 1700's, perhaps the 1800's. A young couple is wanting to get married, and the rich father objects. He may have been a wealthy landowner in Virginia or a southern state.
They do get married and move to the frontier, setting up their new lives in a cabin or rustic home. They suffer hardships, etc. She becomes pregnant with their child later in the movie. The baby is coming, and their friend, farmhand, sidekick, or whatever? has to go a long distance to locate the father before the baby arrives.
There may or may not have been Indians or a fire. That's all I remember. Can't even recall if it was black and white or a color movie.
It would probably have been made in the 1940's, but could have been in the late 1930's, or 1950's.
Hope you're familiar with this old movie. I've done searches online and scanned possible movie titles. Went to www.imdb.com and looked up numerous actors and searched their movie titles, and did word searches for plots on imdb.
Regards,
Jan
