Question
Hi Mel,
I was wondering if you could help me out with a movie question. My mom remembers coming across a movie on TV years and years ago. All she remembers about it was that it was about an bumbling angel in training, and in order to get his wings he had to complete certain tasks. One of the final scenes was the cross on top of the town church lighting up again after years of disrepair and at this point the angel succeeds in "graduating". Unfortunately she can't remember the title of the movie or any of the cast or director, and we already know it wasn't that wonderful bumbling guardian angel movie "It's a Wonderful Life". I was wondering if by any chance you might have a suggestion about what the movie was, because mom loved it and I'd like to try to find it for her for Christmas or her birthday. Hope you can help
Merry Christmas

Answer
Hello Jennie,

This was a film called "Almost An Angel". It came out in 1990, starring Paul Hogan.

Here's a brief plot outline: "Terry Dean is an electronics wizard and thief. After he is released from jail, he is hit by a car while saving a child's life. While in the hospital, he dreams that he is in Heaven and that God visits him, telling him that he is an Angel and he must start doing good things to make up for his past life. Not believing it at first, he soon becomes convinced he must be an Angel. Not having any Angel powers yet, he must use his own experiences and talents to make good things happen."

And a couple of links to the film:
