Question
Years ago I saw a film that was about an Englishman on vacation in Europe in the early years of World War Two.  He ended up taking a group of children out of Europe and back to England.  In the movie he had a beard and was very curt with the Germans.  Any idea the anme of the movie?  regards, Sam Tyler

Answer
Hello Sam,

That film was called "The Pied Paper" (1942). It starred Monty Woolley as Englishman Mr Howard, who is on a fishing holiday in eastern France when the Germans invade in 1940. Setting off to try and get back home he is persuaded to take along the two Cavanaugh children (played by Roddy McDowall and Anne Baxter), and as his journey progresses his family keeps growing in size.
