Question
Hi Mel, I've been looking for this movie for two years now
and haven't been able to come up with the title. I've seen
the movie a couple of times many years ago.  The first time that I recall seeing it was in the late 1960's on television. It was not a made for television movie.  The movie takes place during the Battle of the Bulge.  Two of the scenes that I remember are (1)  General McAuliffe says his famous lines to the German messengers when the German were asking for the surrender of Bastogne. He said, "Nuts."  (2)  The other scene is where 3 GI soldiers go into a church to take refuge during a snowstorm finding parishioners in a service. The GI's go to the front of the church and kneel to pray.  I hope you can be of help as to the name of this movie.  Thank you.  Wes

Answer
Hello Wes,

The film that comes immediately to mind is "Battleground", made in 1949 and starring Van Johnson, John Hodiak, Ricardo Montalban, George Murphy as part of the 3rd Platoon, Company I of the 101st Airborne Division, and their skirmishes in and around Bastogne.

Here's a link for the DVD:
