Classic Film/classic movie dance sequence

Question
QUESTION: I can't remeber the name of the movie or dancer but it was around the same era as Judy Garland.  There is a scene where the dancer hops like a kangaroo around the small town for about 5 minutes without a break in the scene.  Could you tell me the movie and actor/dancers name?

ANSWER: Thanks for writing.  I know exactly the scene you're remembering, but I can't come up with the specific dancer or film! Very frustrating.  But I'm picturing Gene Kelly, or perhaps Fred Astaire or Donald O'Connor.  Something tells me it's from "An American in Paris," because I can see Leslie Caron doing the same dance.  Not sure it's one continuous shot, however.  It's a single scene, but may have been shot in chunks.

QUESTION: Hi Brad, I know it's not Gene Kelly, Fred Astair or Donald O'Connor.  I think maybe Ray Bolger but can't be sure.  I know the scene was shot in one continuous take because I was amazed at his athletic fitness.  It is an obscure movie but this scene stood out.

Answer
Well, I've slept on it, but I'm still stumped!  Yes, it could be Ray Bolger.  How about Danny Kaye?  I hope you've posed your question on the Forum, because I'm sure somebody there will come up with an answer.

I know it's something I've seen before, either in the movie itself or in a clip, perhaps from one of the "Entertainment" collections.
